Meet Emma Corrigan, a young woman with a huge heart, an irrepressible spirit, and a few little secrets.
Secrets from her boyfriend :
I've always thought Connor looks a bit like Ken. As in Barbie and Ken.
Secrets from her parents :
Sammy the goldfish at home isn't the same goldfish that Mum and Dad gave me to look after when they went to Egypt.
Secrets she wouldn't share with anyone in the world :
I have no idea what NATO stands for.Or even what it is.
Until she spills them all to a handsome stranger on a pane.At least, she thought he was a stranger.... Until Emma comes face-to-face with Jack Harper, the company's elusive CEO, a man who knows every single humiliating detail about her...
This book has three different covers. The book that i'd read is the pink one.Again. I've read this book by borrowing it from my eldest sister. Sharing is Caring. Besides, she NEVER reads it ! Once she bought a book, she'll read it a few seconds and then BOOM !!!!!!! She'll just leave it somewhere around the corner of the room to collect cobwebs and dust bunnies. I bet she's always like this when she gets a book in her hand. The only people who finish reading this book from the first and last page is me and my other sister.Anyway, the beginning of the story in this book started off pretty well ! I have to agree with the Miami Herald quote ,"Kinsella's timing is so perfect, her instincts so spot-on, that it's so easy to...devour the book like the guilty pleasure it is".Once i'd read the first few chapters, i couldn't stop reading because i wanted to know more of the story. Moreover, the conversations were engaging and humorous. For example...
Emma: We're going to die ! (in an airplane)
Stranger: I don't think we're going to die. They said it was just turbulence-
Emma: Of course, they did ! They wouldn't exactly say, 'Okay, folks, that's it-you're all goners !'
Everything was great at the beginning, climax, conversation, characters and all but except the end of the story was disappointing, though because it seemed like the ending wasn't finished. It was dissatisfying because Emma was really worked up at the climax of the story and when the story ends with a "What ?! That's all !?" in my opinion. I was hoping that the ending would end something juicy or at least something better than it was written. It felt like the story didn't finish or Sophie didn't have any ideas or will to put more in the ending of this book. The climax too was a bit of a let down as the main character, Emma Corrigan, becomes a nagging machine and desperate woman who throws tantrum towards to people instead of the Emma Corrigan that i've read the first few chapters before. I wanted more once i first read this book but i didn't get what i wanted when i finish reading it.Well, that's my opinion but if you do agree with me but haven' read the book and wanted to read it, i suggest that you would borrow this book instead of buying it to prevent yourself feeling as disappointed as i am and regretting wasting your money but it's up to you. Luckily for me the book i've read belongs to my sister. Which she NEVER EVER read it !!!!
