Rough Justice In The Library ?!

Front cover

As you can clearly see,  this IS Rough Justice, a book about DC Comics  sketches of Alex Ross (edited by Chip Kidd), and never in a million years I would have guessed that this book be in my college library ! I'm so glad that library has this book !

Gotta. Love. An. Army. Of. Me !

Color version

Gray scale version

"Gotta. Love. An. Army. Of. Me !"-Robin, The (first) Boy Wonder/Richard John Grayson/Dick Grayson of Earth-16/Young Justice universe

The title says its all. Who doesn't love an army of Robins ? Especially in a cute and adorable chibi form with different expressions.

Inspired by the Young Justice Season 1 Episode 25 Usual Suspects. The one (and probably the only thing) that Zatanna did right with Robin. Making an army of Robins.

It's been difficult trying to handle my time these days. I'll try to make more sooner or later.

A Trip To MGCC (Malaysian Games & Comic Convention)

A Trip To MGCC (Malaysian Games & Comic Convention)

Sunday, 20th May, the convention was held at KD University College. It was my first time going to a comic convention. I was so pump going to the convention that I made a list of comics that I wanted (& needed, as I develop my drawing skills only through observation)Hoping that I would finally bought comics that I wanted (most of the comics I wanted are about Damian Wayne & Jason Todd)

List Of Comics To Buy :

1) Batman Streets Of Gotham (Issue 7-13, cause those issues had a lot of Damian & Colin moments, oh and Issue 18 'cause there's funny scene of Batman taking a picture of Penguin)

2) Red Hood Lost Days (I'm a Jason fan & also where Jason has an awesome line saying to a dude "Your accents gets thicker when you're pissed, it's cute !")

3) Batman Annual #25 (where Jason was resurrected and buried deep & trapped in a coffin. The grave is the most phenomenal scene ever !!!)

4) Red Hood & The Outlaws #3 & #6 (cute scene of Young Jason, Starfire wearing a beautiful short white dress & more Jason)

5) Batman & Robin (New 52) #8 (Damian & Bruce having a father & son moment)

6) Kingdom Come (whole series...this is Alex Ross, we're talking about !)

...But unfortunately, there's a lot of Superman comics, old comics from the 80's and 90's & Tim Drake's (not a lot of Damian & Jason) and I couldn't find anything on the list except Kingdom Come & Batman Streets Of Gotham but it was DAMN expensive. The Kingdom Come has a complete set of the series but it costs RM200 while Batman Streets Of Gotham (there's only a set of #1-3 and no other issues) cost RM 50 ! $1 is equal to more than RM 3. It's probably more cheap buying in the States.I don't know whether to slit my throat or hang myself when saw those sets. Instead I bought 2 comics the New 52 Teen Titans (which cost RM 2) & Batwoman...(cost RM 5, quite a bargain, no ?) they're both cool but I feel unsatisfied...

I don't really like the new outfits in the New 52 but...Of all the makeovers of all the members of Teen Titans,  I say the most satisfactory is Red Robin/Tim Drake or maybe Solstice/Kiran Singh...or both.
If you look closely, you'll see the members of the Teen Titans, Solstice, Static Shock, Raven, Miss Martian Beast Boy....& even Starfire ! (For some reason...)

Tim Drake fans would probably squeal by this scene....

The Red Robin wings & jet pack still doesn't convince me much but it does look good. If you look closely, you'll see Pandora the Hooded Lady

What I really don't like about this page is that Tim kicks the bad guy from the back of his neck and the bad guy hits his face at the side of the sports car...and oozes a lot of excessive blood like someone pealed his face...

An Introduction of Katherine Kane, Batwoman.

I'm quite glad Batwoman's story has some supernatural and paranormal elements (which I did not expect) in it which goes quite well and also not making another boring carbon copy stereotype Batman version with superhero fist fight with supervillians 'cause there's a lot of Bat titles in the New 52 like Batman, Nightwing, Batwing, Batgirl Batman & Robin and etc...Nighwing's probably the worst of the worst...not because I dislike Nightwing, don't get me wrong he's witty, has a lighthearted attitude which balances the other dark tones in the comic and he makes jokes along the way.The story is so predictable and cliche to me...and also reminds me that DC is being too sweet to him just because he's a popular character. Whatever Dick does whether he slept with Barbara Gordon/Batgirl even though he's already engaged to Starfire/Koriand'r (which he later admits to Barbara and invites her to his wedding after they slept) or always rushing into a relationship but not making a commitment and gets away with it and still going into numerous one night stand with many DC women that you could think of and yet everyone still forgives him and still making him look like he's the only good guy in DC and he doesn't seem to change (which makes it flaw as humans make mistake and trying to be better people is something we all never seem to get bored and enjoy to read ) even with the reboot of the New 52, going through an endless cycle of Dick's unchanged attitude and not blooming to anywhere. It would be nice to Dick having a nice deep well written mystery story without getting into some other woman's pant (Maybe that's why he's name is Dick) and next to fist fighting violence. It's just too boring and predictable...It's like another endless cycle rated 18SX.

Mar'i Had A Little Lamb

Mar'i Had A Little Lamb
Mar'i Had Little Lamb...based off well, Mary Had A Little Lamb nursery rhyme and also the Superman/Batman Issue 77 where Kara gets revenge on Damian by wearing a cute lamb costume...I'll finish this in the near future...

Kara : Here's the rare Kryptonian flower that I've promised

Mar'i : Thank you very much !

Kara : That's gonna teach the brat for making me wear that silly outfit...

Mar'i : Just so you know, I also agree in doing this for the Boy Blunder calling you as an alien ! We girls got to stick together !

Damian : SO YOU'RE BEHIND ALL OF THIS ?! I'M GONNA-!!! (had to cut his script due to excessive cussing & cursing)

I really wanted to put speech bubbles at the bottom but as some of you already read my journal, I've been super busy...

This is the speech bubble at the right part (the one with Damian Lamb having horns)...

Kara : I wonder why that costume doesn't have any horns ? It would definitely fit his devilish nature !

Mar'i : They said that it wouldn't be appropriate for children and parents wouldn't like it 'cause it looks like Satan or 'cause it's a premature lamb costume...something like that !

Kara : And he's this close being the son of the demon...

Mar'i : He IS the son of the demon or more accurate the grandson of the demon...

Damian : WOULD YOU GUYS SHUT UP !!! -tt- !!!!

Strawberry Tart Recipe

Strawberry Tart Recipe

Ingredients

Tart Crust/Pate Brisee
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons coarse salt
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
2 1/4 sticks (18 tablespoons) cold unsalted butter, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
7 to 10 tablespoons ice water

Filling
8 cups of strawberries, hulled and sliced 1/4 inch thick
 1cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup cornstarch
all-purpose flour, for dusting
1 egg
 1 tablespoon of water
fine sanding sugar, for sprinkling

Method

1) Mix flour, sugar and salt. Add the butter until coarse crumbs form. While mixing, add ice water just until the dough holds together and is not wet and sticky. Divide into two portions and shape each into a disk. Wrap in a plastic wrap, refrigerate overnight or put in the freezer at least 30 minutes or 1 hour or until it is slightly hardens.

2) Combine strawberries and sugar, let it stand for 1 hour. Drain, discarding liquid. Add cornstarch to berries and stir. Preheat oven to 232 'C/450 'F. On a lightly floured work surface, roll out half the dough into a 28 cm/ 11 inch square or using a plastic wrap over the work surface and the dough if you don't want to use the other method or you don't want to waste too much flour. Fit into a 23 cm/9 inch square tart pan with a removable bottom, pressing the dough gently into sides. Prick the bottom with a fork. Spread strawberry mixture over dough.

3) On a lightly floured work surface, roll out into a  28 cm/ 11 inch square. Cut out shapes as desired. If dough becomes too soft to work with, refrigerate until firm. Carefully place over dough over filling and trim any over hanging dough. Press edges to seal. Whisk together egg and water, and bruch egg wash over top crust. Sprinkle with sanding sugar.

4) Bake tart for 25 minutes. Reduce oven temperature 204 'C/ 400 ' F. Bake until the filling is bubbling, 30 to 35 minutes. If crust browns too quickly, cover with parchment paper and then foil. Let it cool completely before taking the tart tin off.

New York Cheesecake Strawberry Swirl Recipe

New York Cheesecake Strawberry Swirl Recipe

P.S- Not made out of alien brains....my swirling technique requires work

It looks like thick pepperoni pizza from afar....                                                       It does, doesn't it ?

Okay, now this looks like a cheesecake !

Ingredients

Crust
1 cup of crushed digestive biscuits
3 tablespoons of sugar
3 tablespoons of butter, melted

Filling
227 g of cream cheese, softened (or more than 227 g cream cheese if desired)
1 cup of sugar
3 tablespoons of flour
1 tablespoon of vanilla essence
1 cup of sour cream
4 eggs
1/3 cup seedless strawberry jam

Tips :
-Don't have sour cream ? Make one by pouring a tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar with 1 cup of milk. Mix them together and let it set for 5-10 minutes.

-Out of strawberry jam ? Substitute with  1 package of fresh strawberries. First frozen the fruits, then thawed, drained and pureed for the 1/3 cup jam.

-When making a cheesecake, it is usually refrigerate for more than 3 hours after it is baked and cool completely because the cheesecake will taste better and it will achieve the chilled soft cheesecake-like texture and consistency form that you want.

Method

1) Heat the oven to 163 'C/325 'F. Grease a 23 cm/ 9 inch pan with  butter and a dash of flour. Mix the crushed digestive biscuits with the melted butter and sugar. Press onto the bottom of the pan and make small holes on crust with a fork. Bake 10 minutes.

2) Beat the cream cheese, sugar, flour and vanilla in a large bowl until well mixed. Add sour cream, mix well. Add eggs one at a time and mix and after each just until well blended. Pour over the crust. Gently pour the jam by dropping spoonfuls of jam over batter and swirling with a knife or gently pour the jam by swirling  around over batter.

3) Bake for 40 minutes or until center is almost set. Cool completely. Refrigerate 4 hours. Lift cheesecake from the pan before cutting to serve.

This cake is simple to make and the results are above satisfactory. It's a cake for everyone to enjoy and indulge !

Chocolate Meringue Pie Recipe

Chocolate Meringue Pie Recipe

This recipe serves about 6 people. The pie has a perfect balance of taste, the salty buttery crumbly bottom crust with the sweet milky creamy chocolate filling and a cloud of heavenly meringue with a slightly crisp golden top.

P.S- for those who don't know what a meringue taste like, it like a bit like a not-so-super-sweet cotton candy but a has crisp outside layer. Not only that, it's only made out of egg whites, caster sugar and vanilla essence only. The only tricky part of making a meringue is anyone who doesn't have an electric mixer and a strong arm....But one thing for sure, this pie taste incredible !!!

Ingredients

Crust
225 g/8 oz plain chocolate digestive biscuits (or any digestive biscuit if you desired)
4 tablespoons butter

Filling
3 egg yolks
4 tablespoons caster sugar
4 tablespoons corn flour
600 ml/ 1 pint milk
100 g/ 3 1/2 oz plain chocolate, melted

Meringue
2 egg whites
100 g/ 3 1/2 oz caster sugar
1/4 teaspoon vanilla essence

Method

1) Crush the chocolate digestive biscuits using an electric mixer or in a plastic bag with a rolling pin or using an ancient method....your hands. Then, transfer into a large bowl. Place butter in a small, heavy based saucepan and heat gently until just melted ,then stir it into the biscuit crumbs until well mixed. Press into the bottom and up the sides of a 23 cm/9 inch tart tin or dish.

2) To make the filling, place the egg yolks caster sugar and corn flour into a large bowl and beat until they form a smooth paste, adding a little of milk, if necessary. Place the milk in a small, heavy-based saucepan and heat gently until almost boiling, then slowly pour it onto the egg mixture, whisking well.

3) Return the mixture to the pan and cook gently, whisking, until thick. Remove from the heat. Whisk in the melted chocolate then pour it onto the biscuit base.

4) Here comes the tough part for those who don't have electric mixer and strong arm. To make the meringue, whisk the egg whites in a large, spotlessly clean grease-free glass bowl (glass bowl helps the quicken this process as it can incorporate air efficiently.) until soft peaks form. It takes about 30 minutes for a strong arm and a weak one forever but this recipe is worth it, believe me ! The thing about doing this manually, you don't have to go the gym to build muscles and burn fat ! That's one the good thing about doing chores and housework...Anyway, gradually, whisk in two-thirds of the sugar until the mixture is stiff and glossy. Fold in the remaining sugar and vanilla essence.

5) Spread the meringue over the filling, swirling the surface with the back of a spoon to give it an attractive finish. Bake in the center of a preheated oven, 160 'C/375 'F, for 30 minutes or until golden. Serve hot or just warm. (Tip: For those who have small oven and afraid the top of the pie is going to burn quickly, if becomes golden less than 20 minutes, take it out and cover it with a tin foil or turn the switch to only heat the oven from the bottom.)

Chocolate Cake With Chocolate Frosting Recipe

Chocolate Cake With Chocolate Frosting

Not only it taste absolutely delicious but it's cheap & easy to make !!!

Recipe:
Chocolate Cake Ingredients (Serve 7-9) (probably the most easiest cake batter recipe ever made so far !!! And it taste great too !!!)
3 cups of all-purpose flour
1 cup of cocoa powder
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1 teaspoon of bicarbonate soda
1 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
250 grams/9oz of butter
1 1/2 cup of milk
3/4 cup of vegetable oil (specifically palm oil or corn oil)
1 cup of hot water
3 eggs
1 teaspoon of vanilla essence

Chocolate Frosting Ingredients (taste great and use small amount of cream !!!)
350 grams/12oz of cooking chocolate/plain chocolate, broken into pieces
115 grams/4 oz of butter
85 ml/m fl oz of double cream (double cream is whipping cream or cream that has more than 30% fat content )

Method

1) Sift the dry ingredients, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and bicarbonate soda.

2) In a separate and large bowl, stir in sugar and butter until light and creamy. Then, pour in the vegetable oil  , the sifted dry ingredients, milk, hot water, eggs and vanilla essence. Stir the mixture all together.

3) Bake the cake at 180 'C/350 'F for 45 minutes.

4) Let the cake cool for 20-30 minutes. You can also make a layer cake by pouring the same mixture in three separate cake tins. That's what I did ! And results are more than satisfying as you put the frosting in each layer ! Or you can make one big cake or/and cut it in three layers. (To make a cut straight, put the cake in another and larger cake tin or any tin with the height you want to cut and the tin will help you guide the knife in a straight cut.)

5) To make frosting, melt the chocolate and stir in butter and cream. Let it cool and chill in the fridge for couple of hours and then stir it again until it has a frosting consistency or if you want quick results ( and you're lazy like me and time is not on your side) put it in the freezer and wait for about 10-15 minutes but make sure the frosting is not freeze completely ! If you see only the edges of the frosting freeze and the middle part is still in liquid form then take it out and stir it until it achieves the frosting consistency that you want ! Then, cover the cake with the frosting and TA-DA ! A super moist chocolate-y cake with mouth watering chocolate frosting !!!!

The team didn't have abundant knowledge about superheroes from the Golden Age so they didn't suspect anything suspicious but in reality she was human, her real name is Maxine and wears an armor similar to Red Tornado/John Smith so she could hide her identity due to various reasons which I'm not gonna tell 'cause I spoiled too much)
-Azure/Blue Hood/one of Raven's students

Most of them are Kingdom Come characters, some are existed characters in DC Comics and only two characters I created myself : Dominique "Nique" Gage and Azure/Blue Hood. Made the background white 'cause I think I'm gonna fill in more characters later. I'm also gonna do a guy's version soon until I have a list of characters. It be more helpful if anyone can give me any suggestions and help.

I drew this while listening "Double Vision" over and over again and imagining Damian singing this song while the girls are the back up singers.....

....''Cause there's so many fine women that my head is spinning
And I'm seeing double vision everybody's singing like
Hey na na na hey hey na na na na
Hey na na na hey hey na na na na"

Hidden Graphic Novels : Red Hood And The Outlaws Issue 6

Red Hood And The Outlaws #6 : Take Me Down To Paradise City Where The Sea Runs Red And The Girls Are Pretty

Plot by Scott Lobdell
Dialogue by Joshua Williamson
Art by Kenneth Rocafort
Colors by Blond
Letters by Dezi Sienty
Cover by Kenneth Rocafort and Blond
Assistant Editor Katie Kubert
Editor Bobbie Chase

This issue is the must have list for RHATO fans, Starfire Fans and most importantly Jason Todd Fans (since some or mostly of the pages are covered of images of Jason with barely no clothes...Some critics says it's a like a revenge on Issue 1 of Starfire who has barely no clothes on and does so for the male dominance. So, this is an interesting issue for the girls to enjoy). Speaking of revenge, this issue is tells about the beginning of RHATO and how it all started. It takes place 1 month before Issue 1 and answers a lot of questions that we all wondered...All of these pictures is from the internet since I don't have the book itself and finding one in my country (Malaysia) is like finding a needle in a hay stack....

Jason manages to escape (from nuclear explosion from a submarine under the sea and yet not crushed by the high pressure and the nuclear explosion !? Seem unrealistic maybe the helmet keeps him from high pressure but it's clearly broken but whatever...it's a comic anyway....). Jason is saved (but naked) and aided by extraterrestrial technology (which you don't have to be a genius to figure it out who helped him.)

Jason dreaming of his old past about his days as Robin and Dick Grayson/Nightwing/previous and original Robin. (The Discowing totally annoys me probably as much as I annoyed by one of Dick's baddest fashion moments ....Mullets)

Starfire began recalling her memories of her past lover Dick Grayson/Robin the first/Nightwing...which states she still remembers him....

Even with his burst of energy, Jason is still weak, tired and weary. He just beat a bunch of bad guys in a submarine full of nuclear stuffs under the sea. Can't blame him...(His tired face looks really adorable)

Jason finally wakes up and Starfire gives the tour of her spaceship (His introduction just cracks me up...XP)

This page is really hard not to love ! We got a curious and non-stop babbling Jason who's asking a lot of question about Starfire's ship which amazes him since he never encounter and alien before and we got Starfire wearing an absolutely gorgeous short white dress which fits her so good and top up with beautiful tropical flowers on her red hair like a tropical jungle princess. I really like this look on her ! (Which explains why she used to be a fashion model.)

Jason surprised by Discowing . For bad fashion ? No, but wondering why Dick's suits end up in Strafire's spaceship...

Starfire explains in such a great and poetic way. Stating that she has wonderful memories of Dick even though she doesn't remember his name but she doesn't wish to throw his clothes away. Which states she still loves him and wish to see him someday. The man she have been with and clothes he wore does not define her and so does Jason too for the clothes he wear. What so great about is that, we always knew Starfire and her story because she was Dick ex-lover and this scenes tells that she is who she is and that what defines her and the man she have been with does not define her existence which obviously what we always define her and thought of her. After that, Jason toys around the ship with alien weapons and thinking Starfire loves Dick as much as he hated Dick. He then started thinking about the things he had done, always finding a way to kill other people and how far he ignore Ducra's teachings. So, he went to talk to Starfire

This scene also shows how smart and not a bimbo Starfire is. This shows her "guru" side by giving great advice that she appreciate the past but does not live in the past. She tells Jason that some people sees her as a walking nuclear reactor but she releases her powers in good use but the anger that boils in Jason's heart will destroy him if he keeps lock up inside his heart forever. Then, they hug. Which is a real touching moments, I guess but one thing is bugging me is how  does Jason sees himself as a space kitty ???

I'm not sure about this part...Looks like Jason has mixed feelings about the difference between friendship and love-ship....Anyway, after Starfire took a dip in the sea, Jason was going through the internet that Roy Harper will be sentence to death in Qurac. That's when he and Starfire saves Roy's butt by Jason dressing up as a fat priest which was kinda hilarious especially Jason still wears the bottom bit of the android priest. I don't really like Jason's face at the last page...Looks kinda weird and creepy

Last But Not Least Faces Of Jason...

This totally cracks me up ! He said "Where are my pants ?!" TWICE !

Seems like another episode of Lost....

This is the kind of face he doesn't normally do...

This one is probably my favorite (so far) !!!!! ^_^

This is a really great issue not only it's like a slap in the face to the critics to the comics but the fans of RHATO & Jason & Starfire where very happy with the results of the series. So, if you look around other internet reviews of this issue most of them have high marks, points and even full stars from other critics because it was enjoyable to read despite there is nothing spectacular happen like big fighting scenes or etc...but it was great ! Funny ! Entertaining ! So, to my opinion I'll give this issue
